Week 9 - Idea Napkin No. 2

ME:
I am a young adult, learning to reframe my mindset to build on my entrepreneurship skills.
Attending the University of Florida and studying Agricultural Economics has become one of my biggest insights on the influences of humans’ greatest intakes, food. I would say that an experience that has influenced my passion for food and medical help has come from the lingering conditions my mother and I suffer from. The body is an intricate system that continues to evolve over the span of decades, effecting the way we live and the factors available to us. Empathy is a talent, and this talent will bring FoodRx a target market that will share my passion. This business concept gives me the hope to aspire to be a young activist, giving generations the information needed to address limitations, starting a campaign, a movement, that contributes to the awareness of how medical conditions do not have to take such a toll on your day-to-day life. Food should be enjoyed; it is one of our greatest pleasures. Adjusting just a few ingredients and using research to investigate different clusters of uncommon foods can bring advantages to the growing population of issues that our bodies present to us. This business will play a significant role in my life as well as to the lives around me. Struggling with limitations myself, has opened my eyes to how frustrating it can be to find a meal that will satisfy my needs as well as positivity affect my body.

WHO AND WHAT FoodRX IS OFFERING:
FoodRX is offering a product and a service. This product is food, meals that are prepped based on individual conditions. The service is helping individuals that are struggling with feeling their best on a daily basis. Some of the conditions FoodRX specializes in are Celiac Disease, Crohn’s Disease, Colitis, Kidney Disease, Gout, Lupus and Interstitial Cystitis. How will I solve these customers’ unmet needs? Research and the deliverance of hearty, natural and ingredient-friendly foods that address the main factors attributing to their medical condition.
Eating healthy, natural and “body friendly”, can be moderately more expensive than just picking up a 5-minute meal at a local fast food spot. An ideal customer would be of any age, gender, ethnicity and not restricted to any stage of life, however because of the extra time put into research and development, social class and lifestyle will be accounted for in our business plan.

WHY DO THEY CARE:
Living with restricting medical conditions can be frustrating, irritating and a plain nuisance. Health is the most important factor in this business concept. Those that are most knowledgeable about their conditions will understand how difficult it is to put together a meal that meets dietary needs. Not only is research tedious and overwhelming, it takes a great deal of time – and at the end are you really that interested in eating anymore? Many of us will research and find that almost ever WebMD website will deliver a long list of do not’s. FoodRx is a stress-free approach to a better you. We take care of the research, purchasing of ingredients friendly to you, and the convenience of prepped and ready to eat meals. Life is full of stress, why not make meals the least of your worries? Customers will appreciate this service because of the increase of marginal benefits.

WHAT SETS FoodRX APART:
The market for healthy eating has come up over the last few years. Consumers are more educated on the use of food processes including GMO’s, hormones, and the cruel life conditions of animals we eat on a daily basis. FoodRX is natural, hearty, and using real raw ingredients to deliver the best quality. A great taste and a happy healthy body. FoodRX is like none other, building relationships with their customer base, and delivering relief and happiness through what we love most, freedom. FoodRX offers freedom in intake. FoodRX works with nutritionist, recommended doctors, and agricultural specialists to assemble variety in our meals with a new spin on “unique medicine” – yummy food.

Health in Mind

A food provider specializing in unique assortments of health friendly meals, serving customers who have difficulty eating particular foods due to medical restrictions. As research evolves, we continue to learn of new chemical reactions that affect our bodies in somewhat negative ways. There have been many findings in foods that have had doctors change their angles on remedies. FoodRX is a business with heart and soul. Passion drives FoodRX. With the above 5 business elements, FoodRX will live a long and rewarding life.

“A healthier you”

Feed Back Memo

FoodRX received positive feedback from the three individuals that took their time to read and analysis my Napkin Idea No. 1. I especially enjoyed reading the first post I received. A similar story to mine, the individuals mother and bother suffered from Celiac Disease. He expressed how much of a struggle it can be for them both and even for himself when participating in sharing a meal with the family. 100% support. My initial reasoning behind FoodRX was to help, and with this feedback I felt that from what I wrote and explained I reached out to someone that would appreciate such a service. The last feedback I received that moved me was from an individual that mentioned my passion, expressing how he believed that passion was what makes entrepreneurs successful. It warms my heart reading such great comments. Implementing such a product and service can really help those in need, I hope to be able to put my mind to my goals so that I can put smiles on faces. Health consciousness was mentioned as well. Trends are important such as this one, society has become more aware of their intake and are leaning more toward wholesome hearty super foods. Simplicity to the industry was another point mentioned. Not that this point was much elaborated on but I assumed that from my original Napkin Idea, the feedback was clear and concise and so what simplified when compared to similar industry ideas. The last point that I felt was important to the business perspective of FoodRX was detail. Along with similar struggles, passion, health consciousness, and simplicity, detail is mentioned as a positive. The feedback on detail gave the individuals that read my analysis a sense of security ensuring that my offerings were well thought out, which all in all, delivering to those around you is what is most important, sharing the same point of view.

  1. Aviana, I think your business plan is absolutely fantastic and probably one of the most reasonable, well thought out, and useful ideas! I realize at this stage in the process, you probably aren’t ready to estimate prices of this, but maybe you could brainstorm how you would market or deliver this product? Would you get FoodRx into grocery stores or try to sell it on your own? And I love the name of the company!

  2. Hi Aviana,

I absolutely love your business plan! This is definitely a product and service that is missing from the market place. I would love to see what kind of pricing you could come up with that would appeal to as many customers as possible while still earning profits. I would be super excited to having FoodRX in my area and would certainly check it out. I thoroughly enjoyed your post! 3. I think you have a stellar idea, Aviana. The name, in particular, I think is very good. Coming from a family with a couple of allergies, I am somewhat familiar with how hard it can be to find food that just won't make you sick. It sounds like you really do a lot of the work for the customers and have a pretty straightforward business model. I think that this really has potential and admit I would probably use this new product (and I rarely say that). I would give you an "A" for effort and noticed that there are very few errors, and you clearly spent a lot of time thinking about this.

  4. I think your product is a very interesting idea! There are actually quite a few mail and cook places that do what you are describing. Most of them allow you to put allergies and dietary restrictions in to them so that they only send you meals that you can eat. Most of these boxes are organic, and some even offer vegan choices. While I think your idea is very interesting I also feel it is something that already exists. I would suggest trying to figure out what sets you apart from those other services.
